I was sorry to read about how you have been affected by kidney disease. I understand your concerns that more needs to be done to tackle a condition that is projected to become the fifth leading cause of premature death by 2040. Earlier diagnosis of kidney disease is crucial to ensuring that those affected have more treatment options.
Kidney Research UK has conducted some valuable research to identify new ways of diagnosing kidney disease early so that people can receive the treatment they need to have a better quality of life. I am aware that the Government is working with NHS England and patient groups to implement the Renal Services Transformation Programme, so that there is less variation in the treatment and care that patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) receive across England.
