Below is a statement from Bob Seely MP in relation to an announcement about arts funding for the Isle of Wight.
Bob Seely MP said: “Really pleased to see yet more Government investment coming to the Isle of Wight.
"The latest funding announcement will see the Government, through its Culture Recovery Fund, allocate over £2m to the DepARTment project that will see the former Elizabeth Pack department store in Ryde transformed into a cultural and creative space for Islanders.
"This funding will not only support arts and cultural activity in Ryde, which will help to enrich lives, it will also contribute to the regeneration of the town.
"One of the first things I did when I became the Island’s MP was to persuade Arts Council England to name the Island as a priority investment area. That means they now look more favourably on applications from Island projects. I am delighted that this is bearing fruit.
"We’re looking forward to seeing the Arts Minister visit the Island in April to talk about more support for Island arts and culture as part of getting a better deal for the Island."
