MP Bob Seely has welcomed the return of local ‘bobbies’ to Isle of Wight communities.
The news was announced earlier this week by Police and Crime Commissioner, Donna Jones and was also mentioned when Donna visited the Island last week.
It means Islanders will be able to contact their local named police officer directly by phone or email about any concerns they have in their area. Local bobbies will investigate local crimes and collect intelligence, working closely with partner agencies to identify the best problem-solving approach.
Mr Seely said: “I’m delighted that local bobbies have returned to Isle of Wight communities. I would like to thank our Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones for listening and responding to what we asked for – all part of getting a better deal for the Island.
“It’s important that police officers understand what’s happening in their neighbourhood areas and make themselves accessible to the public.
“Islanders want to see them, and they want to be able to talk to them about things they see and hear in their areas. This is a big step forward in striving to make our streets and communities safer.
“I’ll be meeting with the new officers soon to talk to them about the issues residents have raised directly with me.”
Islanders can find out who their local bobby is by going to the following website and entering their postcode https://hampshirealert.co.uk/Content/AllLocalAreas.
Alternatively email me for information: [email protected]
NB. Islanders are advised that should they need an immediate police response, or wish to report a crime, they should always contact the police either online (www.hampshire.police.uk), via 101 or 999 if an emergency.
