West Wight Sports and Community Centre is appealing for kayakers to help at the Solent Swim event later this month.
The event, which raises money for the West Wight Sports and Community Centre, is being held on Saturday 27 July. Approximately 63 swimmers will make their way across the Solent from Hurst Castle to Colwell Bay.
Crucial to the event is having a team of kayakers at sea to provide any necessary support for the swimmers.
MP Bob Seely, who is taking part in the event again this year said: “This is a fantastic event to raise money for a community centre which does so much good for the people of the West Wight and further afield.
“These events can’t happen without people volunteering to help. If there are any kayakers out there who can help, please do get in touch.”
Clare Griffin from the West Wight Sports and Community Centre said: “The Solent Swim is one of the main fundraising events for the Centre and since our first event in 2010, more than 350 people have swum the Solent and raised over £190,000 for the charity.
“Swimmer safety is paramount. We need about 35 kayakers to make the event safe. If you can help, please download the form via the link below and return it to the Centre.”
